Are You Willing?

  1. Give 5 weeks of your summer to the furthering of your teaching ability, drive and style, while at the same time committing yourself to the Ranch 24/7 away from peers & friends?

  2. Take on tasks such as making copies, filing papers, making organized lists, assigning cabins, teaching, doing repair work where necessary, shop for food for each week and other tasks not associated with teaching?

  3. Put up with Mr. B’s ribbing for 5 weeks?

  4. Understand that this is a job and not a remembrance trip of your junior year in high school? Work is expected of you at the Ranch and expectations need to be made & met.

  5. Be evaluated on a weekly basis with goal and teaching style improvement in mind?

  6. Follow through the required work?

  7. Realize that you are not going to receive college credit for any work done at the Ranch?

But at the same time...

  1. You will be strengthening the lessons taught at the Ranch making this summer’s crop of JKB kids’ experience that much more worthwhile.

  2. Make a series of contacts that will greatly benefit you in your quest for a teaching job.

  3. Learn many different skills in the classroom & outside of it (how to teach a class predominantly comprised of girls vs. boys, how different geographic areas affects your teaching style, and, learning from great teachers as they facilitate and through your interviews. Also learn how to do “Ranch Work” activities.

  4. Receive a unique teaching opportunity by working with the best kids in America.

  5. Enhance your teaching qualities exponentially.
